Sketch page 955 further drakengard wyvern progress

Drakengard wyvern progress!  yeah... I changed it again.  The face was giving my trouble (because I made it up) so now I'm making it match up with a komodo dragon structure a bit more.  I think my color choices have improved since with all of these color studies.

Sketch Page 947 - gryphon recap

playing around with color on an old gryphon concept

Sketch Pages 945 and 946

This one was real rough to work on.  Time to hit up tutorials/books about painting skin tones and then studying it for eternity.  I actually starting working on this on the 4th for that daily paint but it was proving so difficult that i made another one on the 5th

June 4th paint
June 5th paint
For the June 5th paint I went ahead and color picked a couple of times just to see how close I was with my color selections (like the butt)

Here is the original reference.  I can see that they are different from the reference, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get to that point.  Perhaps its all about studying more/reading more up on it and practice.

Sketch Page 944 - Golden Eagle

A golden eagle study.  I bought some books about color theory yesterday so it's time for some reading and application.  Here's a majestic pokey-beaked birb. The books have helped a little bit already.  Obviously, I have a long way to go but I think this bird is showing progress compared to my other studies..?

The books are "Fill your Oil Paintings with Light & Color" by Kevin Macpherson  (I'm basing this study on lessons from that book)

and "Color and Light" by James Gurney

Sketch Page 943 - Duck Park

Not much time to paint tonight so here is a quick value study of a ref photo from a park close to where i live.
